Thank you for using HiNote ("we," "our," or "the Plugin"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

HiNote is an Obsidian plugin designed to run locally and does not upload your data to any servers unless you explicitly choose to use features that require network connectivity. We may collect the following information:

• Locally Stored Data: Your highlighted text, comments, and flashcard data are stored in the plugin's data.json file, entirely on your device.
• Device Information: When you activate a Pro license, we generate a device ID used to verify your license.
• AI Feature Data: If you use the AI comment feature, your selected highlighted text and prompts are sent to your configured AI provider (such as OpenAI, Gemini, etc.). Please note that these third-party services have their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve HiNote's functionality;
• Verify your Pro license;
• Process AI comment requests (if you use this feature).

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. Exceptions include:

• When you use the AI comment feature, your highlighted text and prompts are sent to your chosen AI provider;
• If required to comply with laws, regulations, or court orders;
• To protect our or others' rights, property, or safety.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of Internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Your Choices

You can choose to:

• Not use features that require network connectivity (such as AI comments);
• Delete plugin data stored on your device at any time;
• Not activate a Pro license.

6. Children's Privacy

HiNote is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new Privacy Policy on this page and notify you of significant changes through the plugin.
